Refutal
A refutal is the use of reason to establish that a given justification is incompatible with its concept of truth or with another concept of truth that has become or should become, by this same use of reason, the one appropriate to evaluate it.
The successful establishment of a refutal by favorable sentiment across the collective consciousness in which it is relevant and in particular when its spread as a truthful statement reaches the relevant power system's locus of power is capable of rendering the stance it provides support to as unjustifiable, which can in turn render the actions it justifies as no longer having this power system's sway behind them.
However, it is a naive position to suppose this end result is achieved by the sheer force of reason alone. While reason plays a role in the accumulation of force towards a given change, it may as well fail to overpower the opposing force, which may employ not only reason in reaction but also the full force of ideology, economic power, violence, as well as any other resources it deems necessary.
