Locus of Interaction

ID: InteractionLocus

The locus of interaction in a system is the collection of processes and functions that present the most activity and involve the largest number of elements, acting as a gravitational center to the system as a whole.

While not all elements of a system are necessarily constantly interacting to the same degree, the less they are, the less cohesion there is and without any cohesion a system will disagregate and cease to exist, leaving only the dispersed elements in its place.

The locus of interaction should not be confused with the locus of power. For example, in an economic system, the locus of interaction are the productive and commercial activities, while the locus of power are those accumulating capital and the bureaucratic and violence systems that support them.
