Communication
Communication is the successful exchange of meaning between two beings through the use of language.
While meaning can be exchanged even though a specific language is not shared, communication as treated here implies a deeper sense of exchange, meaning more precise and reflexive processes are possible.
This is specifically important because continuous communication then implies an increase in precision and understanding, with the possibility of confirming all parties have understood. Whereas when no common language is shared the continued exchange of signals is more likely to add noise and confusion unless both languages start changing to adapt to each other. Communication therefore is not simply a superficial exchange of meaning, but a function through which the participating beings can all acknowledge to have understood each other, which is precisely what is mean by the succesfful exchange of meaning.
