Territory

A territory is a geographically-defined boundary with a specific relationship with a state or being, such as that of ownership.

Territories are notably conceptual, meaning there may be multiple overlapping boundaries that define territories in contradicting ways. Under such a disputed situation, the de facto existence of a territory tends to be brought into effect by a violence system such as that of a state.
