Target

A target is an entity one has the intention to harm for reasons that go beyond impulsive defense from an immediate threat.

For example, a soldier can be instructed by its government to kill a given person, their target. A target should not be confused with an enemy. For example, your enemy could make you take their foes as your targets, even if they pose you no threat at all.
