Predicand

In a clause, the predicand is what the predicate says something about. In most cases, it is the subject of the clause.

For example, in the sentence:

Luna is a good dog.

We can identify something that is being said, "is a good dog", and something it is being said about, "Luna". This makes "Luna" the predicand and "is a good dog" the predicate.
