Compassion
Compassion is consideration for the experience of others in addition to one's own.
While it can be seen as "putting others before oneself" as an exercise in compassion, that might also be self-centering in how it places the self in a sacrificing position and still treats others as unwilling objects, as witnessess or recipients, of this sacrifice.
Compassion is often emphasized for its potential to heal disagreements and counteract selfishness. However, this same aspect of compassion can be abused to shift blame and lead people into passive complacency.
